New Orleans is Back

After the devastation of Hurricane Katrina in 2005, some said New Orleans would never recover.  Well, they were wrong, and a visit to this most dynamic of cities will prove it.  New Orleans has taken back its ‘joie de vivre’ and is moving forward in a big way.  The best way to see this wonderfully reborn city is to rent a holiday apartment or villa so you’ll have a place to relax like a local at the end of the day.

This city is eminently walkable, so be sure to take in one or two of the city walks available.  A graveyard tour – by day or night – is a must, as no one here can be buried below ground.  Because of the flooding issue, everyone must be cremated or placed in crypts, and over the centuries some elaborate, beautiful crypts have been built for the city’s elite.

The French Quarter is still interesting, though it has definitely taken a seedier turn since the 2005 rebuilding.  This city that has seen more than its share of warfare has two very good museums dedicated to the same:  the National World War II Museum and the Confederate Museum, dedicated to telling the Southern side of America’s Civil War, are both located in the Warehouse District.

Follow Magazine Street from the Warehouse District to the Garden District for fabulous and eclectic shopping.  Everything from exclusive antiques to free-thinking artwork can be found and purchased.  While in the Garden District, walk down St. Charles Avenue to see the beautiful homes and mansions, many of which have been here through centuries.

For eating, everything from five-star restaurants owned by world-famous chefs to eat-on-the-go sidewalk vendors can be found.  A mandatory stop is at Café du Monde to order one of their famous beignets.  For fine dining, Arnaud’s or Brennan’s are sure bets – but reservations are required, as is appropriate attire.  If you’d prepare to dress a bit more casually, try Pascal’s Manale, Gordon Biersch’s Restaurant and Brewery, or Mulate’s Cajun Restaurant.  And don’t leave without a dinner cruise on the Steamboat Natchez for a dinner and jazz cruise up the mighty Mississippi River.

On the Road with CRM

You have employees in different locations, some even travel from location to location, and you need a customer relationship management system that connects everyone together. The mobile benefits of CRM provide you with the solution you need.

Cloud computing has replaced the old way of doing business because of the benefits it offers companies today. Instead of using computers with spreadsheets and databases saved on the hard drive, cloud computing stores information on the Internet, so all of your employees can access it at any time, no matter where they are. If they have Internet access, they can get into your system.

So wherever you are going, whether you are on holiday or just away on business, you can always keep tabs on what is happening in your business.

Employee productivity is also more easily maintained with cloud computing. Employees with a PDA can synchronize appointments set on the road with the main system, so everyone in the company knows who will be at what location at any given time. Important information such as email, calendars, and address books all synchronize between the PDA and the cloud computing system, meaning the most up-to-date information is available both places at once.

If you have a sales team out in your community, CRM with the benefits of cloud management means they can visit a client, enter the system and update client information on the spot and then that information is available to any other employee who pulls up the file. That means your sales associates can stay out in the field promoting your business instead of returning to the office at the end of every day to input information into the software system.

Using mobile devices to access cloud computing and your CRM system opens up new possibilities to reaching clients and expanding your customer base. Social networking websites like Twitter and Facebook allow you to post information via PDAs, so your employees can do a little business social networking while on the road. Some employees even use the iPhone to create Podcasts that you can broadcast to your customers. Information included in a Podcast includes new product launches which allow customers to gain important information about the product and encourage a purchase.

Mobile CRM, paired with cloud computing, means you have access to customers 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This frees up your employees to take care of business anytime the need arises. Your customers will appreciate the prompt service and attention to detail which, after all, is what an effective customer relationship management system is ultimately all about.

Boasting a captivating array of architectural and historical attractions as well as an unrivalled and unique nightlife, this city entertains a vast amount of visitors throughout the year.

Renting a holiday villa is a great idea if you want to be semi-independent rather than tied down to three-meals-a-day plus organised entertainment in a hotel without seeing anything much of the country you’re visiting. Especially in Greece and Turkey, there is vicious competition for customers, and hotels ideally want you to spend all your time within their precincts, much to the chagrin of local businesses.

The best way to properly get a feel for another culture is to investigate the holiday villas on offer, and there are plenty to choose from, usually at reasonable prices. Self-catering is a fun option as well as economical, as you can do your shopping at the local market and meet the local people, practice your lingo and generally feel a part of the local community. A country is to a large extent its people, after all.

Choose holiday villas located within easy reach of places you want to explore. In the case of holiday villas in Turkey, for example, picking one in Alanya will give to access not only to many attractions in the town and hinterland, but will enable an overnight trip to the famous volcanic ‘fairy chimneys’ landscape of Cappadocia, which includes a night at a local hotel at a very reasonable price. The journey also includes a stop in Konya, the old Ottoman capital with its famous mosque.

Self-catering holiday villas are the first choice when it comes to having an enjoyable holiday abroad, exploring the sights at your own pace and meeting the locals.

London – if you rent an apartment away from the crowds of the West End, you will experience the real London. The city has a great nightlife, gigs and art exhibitions, global cuisine, green spaces, museums and architecture.

Prague – with streets full of elegant architecture and dominated by its huge gothic castle, Prague is the fairytale city of our childhood imaginations. Local attractions include the gargoyles of St Vitus cathedral, the Czech art museum and Wenceslas Square. Great bars and restaurants help create a vibrant atmosphere that makes this a really special, romantic place to stay.

Florence – a cultural mecca, this Italian city is a Renaissance gem, full of medieval palaces, cathedrals and art galleries. From Florence you are within easy reach of the beautiful Tuscany countryside and places such as Siena and San Giminiano.
